The love lab
Scientists at a research institute in Seattle, USA, nicknamed the love lab, are trying to find out what makes relationships work. They want to know what makes the perfect match and whether it is possible to predict the outcome of a marriage.
They have developed a mathematical model which can tell which marriages will end in divorce. They claim that their predictions are 90% accurate.
They developed their model after studying over 500 couples. They videotaped their conversations and measured their physical reactions when they were discussing difficult subjects such as money. They have discovered that arguing is not a bad thing and to have a sense of humour is an important ingredient.
