Friday the 13th

Why is the number thirteen thought to be so unlucky in most European countries? Many believe this is because there were thirteen people present at the Last Supper in the New Testament of the Bible. But this does not explain why the Romans disliked the thirteenth as much as we do today. They regarded it as a symbol of death, destruction and misfortune. The thirteenth of the month is particularly unlucky and it is not advisable to start anything important or to go on a journey on that day. However, the worst day of all is Friday, May 13th. If you get married on this day, your marriage will be a disaster.
